When things feel out of control, does our mindset ever feel like a minefield we can’t cross safely?
How many things might we be focusing on when we feel like we may explode?
What’s the number of things we want to focus on simultaneously to experience a peaceful mindset?
Taking care of our minds is as important as taking care of our bodies. When our mindset feels like a minefield, we might consider this an alert about our mental health like physical symptoms provide warning signs of physical ailments or disease.
When we get these signals about our disposition[j1] , we may notice physical symptoms that may also arise during an emotionally explosive episode.
As physical symptoms arise, we may try to concentrate on the best course of action to repair our physical health.
How might we focus on how to restore our mental health to a mindful, relaxing approach and regain our desired control?
If we think of a time in the past when we’ve done this, what did that feel like? What feels important about this?
If we feel like we are walking through a minefield, what may have changed to cause the feeling of power to one of peril at that moment? How might we want to get our power back?
May is Mental Health Awareness month (https://mhanational.org/). The ongoing impact we have all experienced this past year may have us working harder than ever before to maintain our resilience.
“Mental Health Month raises awareness of trauma and the impact it can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities. Mental Health Month was established in 1949, (72 years ago), to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans’ lives” (https://youth.gov/feature-article/may-national-mental-health-month).
What might be something we can do for ourselves to help acknowledge the value of our mental well-being in honor of Mental Health Awareness month?
Why does this occurrence we want to plan for ourselves feel important? How might this self-responsible activity contribute to our well-being? Who else might benefit from this?
